After a successful 2013-14 campaign, which included an 8-11 overall record and was highlighted by a trip to the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Championship, the Regis College field hockey team is excited to announce the upcoming season's game schedule.
WESTON, Mass. - After a successful 2013-14 campaign, which included an 8-11 overall record that was highlighted by a trip to the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Championship, the Regis College field hockey team is excited to announce the upcoming season's game schedule. The schedule features eight home contests and 12 non-conference opponents.
The Pride open up the year with a pair of road games at New England College and Framingham State on Aug. 30 and Sept. 3, respectively, before they welcome Wheaton (Mass.) on the 9th and Simmons on the 13th for the first two home contests of the year. The game against NEC will mark the first meeting between both programs since the 2010 season, while the Pride fell to the other three schools last Fall.
On Sept. 13 Regis will be away at Lasell, who narrowly edged the Pride, 1-0 last season, followed by a home game against Johnson & Wales (R.I.) on the 16th and two straight road games at Colby-Sawyer (Sept. 25) and Clark (Mass.) (Sept. 27). The Pride outscored the Wildcats and the Chargers by a 7-1 margin in a pair of wins last season, but dropped a close 1-0 decision to the Cougars.
Four days later, Regis will begin its longest stretch in Weston with three consecutive home games against non-leaguers Rivier (Oct. 1) and Mount Ida (Oct. 8) and NECC foe Wheelock (Oct. 11).
The Crimson & Gold will travel to take on Anna Maria on Oct. 15 in what will be a rematch of the 2013 NECC Championship. The Amcats came back from down two to tie the game and force overtime, where they later scored the game-winner to claim the title.
The rest of October includes three away contests against Elms (Oct. 18), Bay Path (Oct. 21), and Fitchburg State on the 29th for the final non-conference game of the season, as well as one home game against Becker on the 21st. Regis outscored the Blazers, Wildcats, and Hawks, 8-2 over four wins last season, which included a pair of 2-1 wins over Elms in the regular season and NECC Semifinals, but fell to Fitchburg, 3-0, also a season ago.
Regis will close out the regular season with a home contest versus Daniel Webster on Nov. 1, a team the Pride got past via a 2-0 score last year.
The NECC Semifinals are scheduled for Nov. 5, while the NECC Championship will be played on Nov. 8.
