Regis College Athletics Announces Return of Men's and Women's Tennis for 2027-28 Academic Year
WESTON, Mass. – Director of Athletics Mark Clemente is excited to announce the return of both the men's and women's tennis programs to Regis College Athletics beginning in the 2027-28 academic year.
The reestablishment of tennis marks a return to one of the department's most successful traditions, bringing back two programs with rich histories of competitive excellence and campus engagement.
The men's tennis program was last sponsored during the 2021-22 season after a successful run that began in 2009. During its tenure in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC), the Pride captured five conference championships and appeared in seven championship matches between 2011 and 2017. Regis continued its success following its move to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC), reaching the conference semifinals in its final season.
The program produced numerous standout student-athletes, including Andrew Bienvenu, who became the first GNAC Player of the Year in program history during the conference era. Michael Beluch established himself as one of the most decorated players in school history, earning NECC Player of the Year honors in all four seasons he competed from 2012-15. Beluch finished his career with 55 victories, second only to Jared Pilley's program-record 57 career wins.
The women's tennis program boasts an even deeper history on the Weston campus, dating back to 1994. Over three decades, the Pride competed in the Conference of New England (formerly the Commonwealth Coast Conference), the NECC, and the GNAC, making nine conference championship appearances.
Throughout its history, the program produced 17 major conference award winners and numerous championship-caliber student-athletes. Norah Connally '96 highlighted the early years of the program by capturing the Commonwealth Coast Conference Singles Championship in 1996 while helping establish the foundation for future success. During the NECC era, Jessie Lord emerged as one of the program's most accomplished players, earning a pair of Player of the Year awards and finishing among the program's all-time leaders in victories. Katasha Jarvis also starred during that period, collecting Rookie of the Year honors while establishing program records with 52 singles victories and 23 doubles wins.
Beyond the accomplishments on the court, both programs have played an important role in shaping the student-athlete experience at Regis, fostering community, school pride, and lifelong connections among alumni.
"We are thrilled to announce the return of varsity sponsorship for both our men's and women's tennis programs at Regis College," said Clemente. "This marks not only an exciting new chapter, but truly a return to the great tradition that both programs have long represented within our campus community.
"Regis tennis has a proud history shaped by generations of dedicated student-athletes and alumni whose commitment, excellence, and competitive success have left a lasting impact on our institution. We are especially grateful to those former players who helped build these programs—many of whom have gone on to achieve meaningful success in their professions and communities, reflecting the values and experiences they developed here at Regis.
"Reintroducing tennis is about more than competition—it is about enhancing the overall vitality of our campus. Tennis offers a unique opportunity to broaden engagement, create inclusive programming around the sport, and add meaningful value to the student experience. From intercollegiate competition to recreational play and campus-wide initiatives, we believe tennis will serve as an important and energizing addition to our community.
"We look forward to building on our strong foundation and creating new opportunities for our student-athletes to thrive, both on the court and beyond."
Looking ahead, Regis College will begin resurfacing their tennis courts in preparation for the programs' return while a nationwide search for the head coach will also commence.
Additional details regarding program development will be announced as they become available.
