Leslie Bishop Returns to Faculty Athletics Representative Role
WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College athletics department is pleased to welcome Dr. Leslie Bishop back into the role of Faculty Athletics Representative, effective at the start of the 2022-23 academic year.
In this role, Dr. Bishop will be the liaison between the athletics department and the Regis College faculty in support of Pride student-athletes as they aim to complete their degree requirements. Among other duties, she will help oversee the team mentoring program, created to involve faculty or staff members in the co-curricular learning that takes place within the context of intercollegiate athletics.
"I want to thank Dean of Athletics Pam Roecker for asking me to return as the Faculty Athletics Representative. I am thrilled to work again with the athletics staff, coaches, student-athletes, and faculty in this capacity," Dr. Bishop said.
Dr. Bishop first served as the Faculty Athletics Representative for the Pride from 2013 to 2018. Dr. Bishop is currently an Associate Professor of Chemistry at Regis College and serves as the team mentor for the field hockey and women's lacrosse teams.
Prior to joining Regis College in 1997, Dr. Bishop was an adjunct lecturer at Boston College. She was the Chair of the STEM Department from 2018-2021 and has served on many faculty committees, including Faculty Development, Cultural and College-Wide Programs, Faculty Council, and Promotion, Tenure and Sabbatical Grants. She currently serves on the Institutional Review Board.
Dr. Bishop is the Central Division Chair of the New England Association of Chemistry Teachers (NEACT) and a member of the American Chemical Society (ACS). Dr. Bishop is also a member of the Board of Trustees at Bethany Hill Place in Framingham, Mass.
Regis College sponsors 20 intercollegiate sports within NCAA Division III as part of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference.
