WESTON, Mass. – The Regis (Mass.) swimming and diving teams, in a continuing community service effort, welcomed the Wellesley STARS special needs team to the Regis Pool for a fun Sunday afternoon of aquatic activities.
23 Wellesley STARS athletes took part in the activities. Members of the Regis swimming and diving teams held individual training sessions which finished with dives and jumps in the deep end of the pool.
Half of the Wellesley team will be competing in the special Olympics held Saturday, Mar. 11 in Windham, Conn.
"The swim team's experience in the pool is definitely one that will be remembered by all the participants," said Regis head coach James Sweeny. "I know that every member on our team was excited to help and have fun with the Wellesley STARS."
Several members of both teams will be competing this weekend at the ECAC open swimming and diving championships held at the US Naval Academy from Mar. 3-5.
