Saturday, August 30th

MIT 3, Regis College 0 (25-22, 25-21, 25-16)
MIT overcame a 17-9 deficit in set two, rallying to win the game, and eventually sweep the match 3-0 over host Regis College in the opening match of day two of the 2014 Pride Invite. Meghan Gebhard (Howell, Mich.) led the Engineers with 11 kills, while Jenny Astrachan (Austin, Texas) added nine of her own in the win. Alli Davanzo (St. Johns, Fla.) and Nicole Gagnier (Atlanta, Ga.) chipped in five kills apiece, with Gagnier adding nine digs and a match-high 33 assists. Lisette Tellez (Miami, Fla.) led the MIT defense with 10 digs, and Morgan Stewart (Powell, Ohio) had three total blocks in the win.

Regis was led by nine kills and eight digs from Gracie Molinari (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.). Kristina del Rey (Miami, Fla.) and Nicole Connolly () added five kills apiece, with Connolly recording a pair of blocks. Haley Schulte () handed out a team-high 22 assists, and Marilia Ramos (Chimbote, Peru) had three aces and a team-high 11 digs. 

 

Gordon College 3, WPI 2 (25-18, 26-28, 17-25, 25-21, 18-16)
Gordon College came back from a 2-1 set deficit to beat WPI 3-2 and moved to 2-1 on the season, earning their second win of the 2014 Pride Invite. Gordon had a trio of players with double-digit kills as Laura Schmidt (Stuart, Fla.) led the squad with 13, while adding three digs and two service aces. Faith Gerdes (Wall Lake, Iowa) and Jenna Labbadia (Berlin, Conn.) also contributed with 11 kills apiece. Joy Kimmel (Madison, Conn.) doled out a game-high 38 assists, while Maggie Risma (Hudson, Ohio) led the Gordon defense with a game-high 28 digs. Risma also contributed with a game-high nine service aces.

The Engineers offense was led by Melissa Daigle (Norfolk, Mass.), who had a game-high 15 kills while also contributing 11 digs on defense. Jenny Wallace (Holden, Mass.) played an all-around game registering 10 kills, a team-high 22 digs and added four service aces. Shay Feeley (Franklin, Mass.) dished out a team-high 27 assists while also adding 10 digs and a service ace.



Regis College 3, Eastern Nazarene College 0 (26-24, 25-9, 25-13)
Host Regis College ended their 2014 Pride Invite with 3-0 sweep of Eastern Nazarene College during the middle match on court one to move to 2-2 on the season. The Pride offense was led by Gracie Molnari (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) who contributed nine kills and added five service aces and five digs on defense. Kristina del Rey (Miami, Fla.) added eight kills and added two digs and two blocks as well. Sam Bliss (Framingham, Mass.) also had a great game with seven kills, nine digs, an assist and a service ace. Leading the Regis defense was Marillia Ramos (Chimbote, Peru), who had a game-high 11 digs and Tina Lathrop (Houston, Texas) recorded nine digs as well and handed out a game-high 28 assists.

Contributing for the Lions was Kortney Jenkins (Bunker Hill W. Va.), who had a game-high 12 kills while also adding a team-high 10 digs. Lauryl Berger (Laurel, Del.) led the team with 14 assists and added nine digs. Oksana DiCamillo (Nottingham Township, Pa.) also starred on defense adding six digs while Joanna Joseph (Brockton, Mass.) added two blocks, digs and kills.

 


Becker College 3, WPI 2 (25-20, 13-25, 13-25, 25-18, 15-9)
After being down 2-1, the Becker College Hawks rallied back to take the last two sets and earned their first victory of the season by defeating WPI 3-2 during the second matchup on court two of the 2014 Pride Invite this afternoon. Becker was led by the duo of Kristi Hadzewycz (Daytona Beach, Fla.) and Marissa Turner (Coventry, R.I.), who had 11 kills apiece. Hadzewycz also contributed with nine digs and five service aces. Turner starred on defense by racking up a team-high 17 digs and a game-high four blocks. Charlene Landry helped the Hawks cause with eight digs and a game-high 27 assists.

WPI's offense was led by Katie Hurlock (Burlington, Conn.), who had nine kills and also contributed on defense by adding three blocks, two digs and two assists. Gyneth Campbell (Albany, N.Y.) had a game-high 10 service aces along with six kills and nine digs. Brianna Parent (Epping, N.H.) recorded a game-high 23 digs. Emma Sheils (Shirley, Mass.) added a team-high 12 assists and also contributed three digs, two service aces and one kill.

 

 

MIT 3, Gordon 0 (25-9, 25-12, 25-15)
MIT captured the 2014 Pride Invite Championship with a 25-9, 25-12, 25-15 victory over Gordon College on Saturday afternoon. The Engineers (4-0) were led by nine kills from Tournament MVP Megan Gebhard (Howell, Mich.) and eight kills from All-Tournament selection Alli Davanzo (St. Johns, Fla.). Nicole Gagnier (Atlanta, Ga.) handed out a match-high 30 assists and added five digs for MIT, while Clare Farley (La Jolla, Calif.) had a match-high 15 digs to go with three service aces.

Gordon received five kills apiece from Faith Gerdes (Wall Lake, Iowa) and Jessica Burdick (Brewerton, N.Y.). Laura Schmidt (Stuart, Fla.) added three kills of her own, and All-Tournament selection Joy Kimmel (Madison, Conn.) handed out 12 assists. Maggie Risma (Hudson, Ohio), led the Scots defense with 13 digs.

 

 

Eastern Nazarene 3, Becker College 0 (25-20, 25-10, 25-23)
Eastern Nazarnee College picked up their first win of 2014 in the final match of the Pride Invite with a 3-0 sweep of Becker College. All-Tournament selection Kortney Jenkins (Bunker Hill, W. Va.) posted a double-double of 14 kills and 10 digs to lead the Lions. Joanna Joseph (Brockton, Mass.) added four kills, six aces, and four blocks, while Hannah Welsh (Derry, N.H.) and Lauryl Berger (Laurel, Del.) had three kills apiece. Berger added a game-high 21 assists to go with five aces, and Welsh recorded a team-best 12 digs.

Becker was paced by seven kills and seven digs from All-Tournament selection Marissa Turner (Coventry, R.I.). Kirsti Hadzewycz (Daytona Beach, Fla.) added six kills, two aces, and four digs, while Charlene Landry (Gorham, Maine) added 13 assists, two aces, and four digs. Samantha Caouette (Montague, Mass.) led the defense with eight digs.

 

 

 

 

Friday, August 29th

Regis College 3, Becker College 0 (25-17, 25-10, 25-18)
Regis College picked up its first win of 2014 with a 3-0 sweep of Becker College to open the 2014 Pride Invite. Courtney Mosher (Taunton, Mass.) and Gracie Molinari (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) each registered seven kills in the match. Shay Faber (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) added five kills, three aces, and three digs, while Haley Schulte (Fullerton, Calif.) had a game-high 19 assists and seven service aces. Marilia Ramos (Chimbote, Peru) and Sydney Trusty (Durham, Conn.) led the Pride defense with five digs apiece.

Becker was led by five kills, three digs, and a pair of blocks from Marissa Turner (Coventry, R.I.). Samantha Caouette (Montague, Mass.) added three kills and four service aces, while Charlene Landry (Gorham, Maine) had a pair of kills to go with nine assists, two aces, and three digs. Chase Peterson (Redding, Conn.) led Becker with seven digs, and Kirsti Hadzewycz (Daytona Beach, Fla.) had five of her own in the setback.



Gordon College 3, Eastern Nazarene College 1 (22-25, 25-17, 25-22, 25-23)
Gordon College earned their first win of the season with a 3-1 victory over Eastern Nazarene College during the first matchup on court two of the 2014 Pride Invite. Laura Schmidt (Stuart, Fla.) racked up 13 kills and Jessica Burdick (Brewerton, N.Y.) registered 12 kills of her own in the contest. Maggie Risma (Hudson, Ohio.) had six service aces and Joy Kimmel (Madison, Conn. had a game-high 34 assists. Burdick and Risma also led Gordon's defense with 14 digs apiece.

Eastern Nazarene was led by Joanna Joseph (Brockton, Mass.) who had a team-high 14 kills and five service aces. Lauryl Berger (Laurel, Del.) led the Lions defense with 11 digs and Hannah Welsh (Derry, N.H.) added 21 assists.  



WPI 3, Becker College 0 (25-11, 25-18, 25-17)
Worcester Polytechnic Institute defeated Becker College 3-0 and earned their first win of the season during the second matchup on court one of the 2014 Pride Invite. Katie Hurlock(Burlington, Conn.) led the Engineers with seven kills and Melissa Daigle (Norfolk, Mass.) added six. Shay Feeley (Franklin, Mass.) led the squad with 13 assists and added a service ace and a dig. Caroline Meyer (Easton, Mass.) recorded 11 assist and four aces, while Jenny Wallace (Holden, Mass.) added four service aces, five digs and three kills. Kelly Rathje (Scituate, Mass.) led WPI's defense with 11 digs and also added one ace.

Becker's defense was led by Kristi Hadzewycz (Daytona Beach, Fla.) who had six digs, while Charlene Landry (Gorham, Maine.) and Arianne Chipman (Hingham, Mass.) recorded five digs apiece. Landry and Danielle Robbie (Bellingham, Mass.) registered two kills apiece, with Landry adding a team-high five assists.

 

MIT 3, Gordon College, 1 (25-16, 25-16, 21-25, 25-21)
The Massachusetts Institute of Technology beat Gordon College 3-1 to earn their first win of the season and of the 2014 Pride Invitational during the second matchup on court two tonight. Megan Gebhard (Howell, Mich.) led the Engineers with 11 kills and also added a dig and a block. Alli Davanzo (St. Johns, Fla.) also contributed 10 kills, two blocks and a service ace. Nicole Gagnier (Atlanta, Ga.) led MIT with a game-high 31 assists while adding two kills and seven digs. Lisette Tellez (Miami, Fla.) contributed on defense with a team-high 11 digs while also adding two kills, a service ace and an assist.

Contributing for the Fighting Scots on offense was Laura Schmidt (Stuart, Fla.) who landed a team-high nine kills and also added a dig and a block. Jessica Burdick (Brewerton, N.Y.) had an all-around game adding eight kills, six digs and two service aces. Libero Maggie Risma (Hudson, Ohio) had a game-high 16 digs for the Gordon defense while also adding two assists. Also contributing for the Fighting Scots was Joy Kimmel (Madison, Conn.) who logged a team-high 27 assists while also adding four digs, three service aces and one kill.

 


MIT 3, Eastern Nazarene College 0 (25-17, 25-19, 25-14)
The Massachusetts Institute of Technology defeated Eastern Nazarene College 3-0 to earn their second win of the season and of the 2014 Pride Invite during the third and final contest on court two this evening. MIT's offense was led by the duo of Allie Davanzo (St. Johns, Fla.) and Morgan Stewart (Powell, Ohio) who both contributed eight kills apiece. Stewart added two services aces as well. Megan Gebhard (Howell, Mich.) also added seven kills for the Engineers. On defense MIT was helped by a game-high 10 digs from Tori Wuthrich (Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich.), who also added three service aces. Lisette Tellez (Miami, Fla.) also had a strong game by contributing eight digs, two service aces and two kills. Nicole Gagnier (Atlanta, Ga.) dealt out a game-high 34 assist while adding five digs, two service aces and a kill.

For the Lions, Kortney Jenkins (Bunker Hill, W. Va.) and Hannah Welsh (Derry, N.H.) had all-around games. Jenkins led the team with eight kills, and also added four digs. Welsh recorded a team-high eight digs, contributed four kills and a service ace. Lauryl Berger (Laurel, Del.) led Eastern Nazarene with 13 assists.

 

WPI 3, Regis College 2 (18-25, 22-25, 25-23, 25-19, 15-13)
WPI rallied from a 2-0 deficit in the match to force a fifth and deciding game, winning the final set by the score of 15-13, to improve to 2-0 on the year with a 3-2 victory. Melissa Daigle (Norfolk, Mass.) led the Engineers with 13 kills and added 11 digs, while Jenny Wallace (Holden, Mass.) had a double-double of her own with 10 kills and 17 digs for WPI. Kelly Rathje (Scituate, Mass.) recorded a game-high 19 digs and added six service aces to go with seven kills from Sam Bircsak (Acton, Mass.). Shay Feeley (Franklin, Mass.) handed out 28 assists on the night to go with seven aces, five digs, and a pair of blocks.

Regis drops to 1-1 with the setback despite a career-best 16 kills and nine digs from Gracie Molinari (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.). Shay Faber (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) and Kristina del Rey (Miami, Fla.) chipped in eight kills apiece, while Nicole Connolly (San Mateo, Calif.) had seven of her own. Haley Schulte (Fullerton, Calif.) dished out a match-high 33 assists to go with three kills and eight digs, while senior libero Marilia Ramos (Chimbote, Peru) had a team-best 17 digs to go with a pair of aces.
