WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College men's and women's tennis program had eight members of its teams named as 2013 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Scholar Athletes. The women's program was also recognized as an ITA All-Academic Team.
On the men's side, Sophorn Nop (Lowell, Mass.), Mouhamed Diallo (Boston, Mass.), and Michael Beluch (Lynn, Mass.) were all named as Scholar Athletes. For the women, Vanneyra Chum (Lowell, Mass.), Maryse Emungu (South Burlington, Vt.), Melinda Mara (Pelham, N.H.), Jewel Medeiros (Rochester, Mass.), and Caroline Roche (Hanover, Mass.) were recognized.
Both teams had terrific 2012-2013 campaigns as the women's team won its first-ever NECC Championship after going 9-1 during the NECC regular season. The men's squad went an unblemished 10-0 during the regular season en route to an NECC Championship of their own.
The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale).
