WOMEN'S BASKETBALL ADDS FIVE NEW ATHLETES TO ITS ROSTER
WESTON, Mass.—Additions to the Regis College Women’s Basketball team are underway. Head coach Julie Plant announced that five recruits would be entering their first-year with the program this coming winter. Sarah Pettinelli, Dana Sparks, Emilee Marro, Janaya Bradley, and Kim Daniels have all committed to coming to Regis College for the 2011-12 season.

WESTON, Mass.—Regis College women’s basketball head coach Julie Plant (Gorham, Maine) was named to the Women’s Little East Conference 25th Anniversary Team. The silver anniversary announcement was made as part of the LEC Basketball Championship games. Plant, who played for the University of the Southern Maine from 1996-2000, has been a head coach at Regis College since the 2005-06 season.

Nashua, NH – Rivier College fell to non-conference opponent Regis College tonight on women’s college basketball action. A poor shooting night accompanied by 26 turnovers had the Raiders trailing from start to finish as Regis picked up the win 71-48. The Raiders went just 1-19 from the three point line on the night and shot just 25% from the floor while Regis went 4-17 from three land and shot 36% from the floor.

BABSON PARK, Mass. – The nationally-ranked Babson College women’s basketball team held visiting Regis College to just 23.5 percent shooting on its way to a convincing 65-45 victory over the Pride in the opening round of the 2010 Babson Invitational Tournament presented by Irving Oil on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Beavers (2-0), ranked 13th in the country by D3hoops.com, advance to Sunday’s championship game at 3 p.m. against either Western Connecticut State University or Bates College. Meanwhile, Regis (2-1) will play in the consolation game at 1 p.m. after suffering its first loss of the season.

WESTON, Mass.—The 2009-10 women’s basketball season marked one of Regis College’s best seasons in the last three years. Every team dreams of making the conference championship, but only two turn that dream into reality. Last year Regis College women’s basketball did just that. It was the Pride’s first appearance in The Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship since the mid-1990s, and its something that head coach Julie Plant plans on making a reoccurring finish. It is actually one of her four phases, which we will discuss later in this preview.
