WESTON, Mass. – Freshman Michael Beluch (Lynn, Mass.) has been named the New England Collegiate Conference's Player of the Year, while also being named the league's Rookie of the Year, it was announced on Monday afternoon by the NECC offices. Beluch led the Pride to a 13-7 overall mark this season and an appearance in the NECC Championship game, where the Pride fell to top-seeded Mitchell College, 7-2, this past Saturday.
Michael Beluch posted a 9-1 mark at No. 1 singles in conference play this year, with his lone setback coming against Mitchell's Rajan Bawa by a score of 4-6, 7-6 (9-7), 1-0 (10-4). Beluch went 14-6 overall at the top singles position, including posting nine-straight wins to close out the 2012 season, defeating Bawa in the NECC Championship, 7-6 (7-5), 7-6 (7-3).
Joining Beluch on the All-NECC First-Team is Andy White (Bozeman, Mont.). White posted a 6-2 record in singles play this year including a 4-1 ledger at the No. 2 singles position during conference matches. The duo of Beluch and White were both honored as a First-Team Doubles tandem after posting a perfect 6-0 mark in No. 1 doubles play in league play in 2012.
Jeffrie Parrish (Framingham, Mass.) was the final All-Conference selection as the sophomore was named to the Honorable Mention singles team. Parrish went 7-3 in singles play this season, posting a 4-1 mark at the No. 2 singles position and a 3-2 record at No. 3 singles.
Regis College wrapped up its 2012 season with an appearance in the NECC Championship match after joining the league for the first time this season. The Pride posted a program-best 13-7 record, after going 1-28 over the program's first two seasons.
