PRIDE PERFORMS WELL IN DAY TWO OF NEISDA CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Regis College men’s and women’s swimming teams competed in day two of the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Championships on Saturday at the Upper Valley Aquatics Center. The men’s squad posted an overall points score of 258 and finished 5th out of 13 teams, While the women’s team tallied 127 points and finished 18th out of 22 schools.

WESTON, Mass.-The Regis College men's and women's swimming teams competed in day two of the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Championships on Saturday at the Upper Valley Aquatics Center. The men's squad posted an overall points score of 258 and finished 5^th out of 13 teams, While the women's team tallied 127 points and finished 18^th out of 22 schools.

The Pride started the day with strong performances from Nick Yerzyk (West Hills, Calif.), Djorde Mandic (Portland, Maine), AJlex Graf (Newton, Mass.), and Stephen McGovern (Dorchester, Mass.) who broke the school record in the 200-meter relay. The tandem finished 4^th out of eight teams in the heat and secured a time of 1:37.80s. Yerzyk continued to excel throughout the meet breaking the 50-yard backstroke record. Greg Sarantakis (Lowell, Mass.) had a huge day for the Pride setting new personal bests in the 400 IM and 50-yard fly.

Doug Dunbar (Danvers, Mass.) finished 12^th in the 200-yard freestyle capping a new personal best. McGovern returned to compete in the 100-yard breaststroke and broke the Regis record by notching a 12^th place finish. McGovern, Dunbar, Zach Earl (Mexico, N.Y.), and Andy LaForest (Roslindale, Mass.) rounded out the day of competition for the Pride by shattering the 800 freestyle medley.

On the women's side Haley Bowen (Litchfield, N.H.) capped a 12^th place finish in the 100-meter breaststroke with a time of (1:10.64s). This finish was a new personal best and just seconds short of a school record. Bowen teamed up with Shannan O'Neil (Lowell, Mass.), Megan Pratt (Rockland, Mass.), and Stacy Burns (Waltham, Mass.) to finish 14^th in the 200-yard medley relay.

The Pride returns for day three of the NEISDA Championships on Sunday and will look to continue with strong finishes in all of the events.
