As a freshman:
Recorded the 50 freestyle in 30.01 seconds, the 100 freestyle in 1:14.26 and the 50 backstroke in 46.20.

High school:
Kaplan ran cross country (4), outdoor track (3), indoor track (2), and played baseball and lacrosse, both for two years.

Personal:
Father is Ron Kaplan...Mike intends to become a nurse...his favorite athlete is Lance Armstrong.
