CHAMBERS NAMED TO NABC HONORS COURT

Junior Ryan Chambers (Abington, Mass.) has been named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches 2012-13 Honors Court, it was announced on Wednesday afternoon. The NABC Honors Court recognizes the talents and gifts that players possess off the court, and the hard work they exhibit in the classroom.

BERMUDEZ-GLEAN NETS FIFTH NECC ROOKIE HONOR

For the second-straight week and fifth time this season, Regis College freshman Carlos Bermudez-Glean has been named the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Rookie of the Week in men’s basketball. Bermudez-Glean helped lead the Pride (13-15) to their first NECC Tournament appearance last week.

Regis College men’s basketball coach Nathan Hager has been named the 2013 New England Collegiate Conference Coach of the Year, it was announced on Monday afternoon by the league offices. Three members of the Pride were also named to the All-NECC Teams as Osanto Marc (Kissimmee, Fla.) was a Second Team selection and Ryan Chambers (Abington, Mass.) and Carlos Bermudez-Glean (Boston, Mass.) were named to the Honorable Mention Team.

Elms College senior guard Andre French (Torrington, Conn.) scored a team-high 27 points and was named tournament MVP as the top-seeded Blazers topped No. 3 Regis College, 91-78 in Saturday’s New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Championship tournament title game at Picknelly Arena. The Pride wrap up their season at 13-15 overall.

The Pride (12-14) advance to take on Newbury College on Friday night in the NECC Semifinals held at Elms College.

For the fourth time this season, Regis College freshman Carlos Bermudez-Glean (Boston, Mass.) has been named the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Rookie of the Week, it was announced Monday morning by the league office. The rookie helped lead the Pride to a perfect 3-0 mark in games last week and the No. 3 seed in the upcoming NECC Men’s Basketball Tournament.

Regis College shot a blistering 63.5% (33-of-52) from the field en route to a 79-66 win over visiting Newbury College on Wednesday night in New England Collegiate Conference men’s basketball action. The Pride have now won five-straight games to improve to 10-14 on the year and 10-5 in the NECC, tightening its grip on the No. 3 playoff seed. Newbury drops to 14-10 overall and 12-3 in league games with the setback.

With the win, the Pride improve to 9-14 overall and 9-5 in the NECC, while the Hawks fall to 12-12 and 8-7 in league games.
