WALLS, MITCHELL SWEEP NECC WEEKLY AWARDS
WESTON, Mass. – Regis College field hockey players Sashae Walls (Everett, Mass.) and Morgan Mitchell (Ashburnham, Mass) were honored by the New England Collegiate Conference this week for their performances in last week's games. Walls was named the NECC Rookie of the Week while the Pride's goalkeeper Mitchell was honored as the Player of the Week. The Pride are currently 4-9 overall and 2-1 in the NECC and are holding onto the third playoff spot through October 17th.
Freshman Sashae Walls helped pace the Pride's offense this week as the rookie scored three goals and added an assist in a pair of wins. On Tuesday, Walls scored a goal and had an assist in a 3-0 non-conference victory over Lasell and followed that up with a pair of goals in a 4-0 win over Becker College on Friday night in NECC action. Sashae Walls currently leads the Pride in goals scored with eight, including a pair of game-winners, and has added a pair of assists in 13 games.
Netminder Morgan Mitchell led the Pride with a pair of shutouts last week to earn the Player of the Week honors. Mitchell made six saves in a 3-0 win over Lasell and later posted a 4-0 shutout over Becker while making a season-high 15 saves in the win. The sophomore is 3-7 this season and has made 98 saves in 707 minutes while posting a 3.96 GAA.
The Crimson and Gold return to action on Wednesday night when the Pride takes on NECC foe Elms College in a 6:00 p.m. matchup in Weston, Mass.
