MARY ROSE CAMPBELL, JENNIFER BAKER, HIGHLIGHT REGIS ATHLETICS 2011 HALL OF FAME CLASS

WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College athletics department is proud to announce that it has selected its 2011 inductees into the Regis College Athletics Hall of Fame. The class includes a pair of former Pride basketball players in Mary Rose Campbell and Jennifer Baker as well as the 1995-96 softball team that captured the regular season Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship. The class was inducted in an on-campus banquet held as a part of the Regis College Homecoming festivities.

Mary Rose Campbell, who graduated from Regis College in 1956, has been an extremely loyal alumna, serving the College in many capacities over the last 55 years. She has served the College as a member of the Regis College Board of Trustees, Alumni Association Board of Directors, President of the Alumni Association from 1994-1996, chair of the Annual Fund, class fund agent and phone-o-thon volunteer and an active member of the Class of 1956. She was the recipient of the Alumni Association Loyalty Award in 2000 for her distinguished service to Regis College.

While a student at Regis, Mary Rose, was required to take gym and competed on the basketball, golf, and tennis teams. During the 1954-1956 seasons, she served as the captain of the basketball team. She graduated with an AB in Food/Nutrition and after 36 years in the food industry, she retired as a Vice President at Seilers/Sodex, Inc.

Jennifer (Erickson) Baker has had a lasting impact on the Regis College athletic family. Jenn was a role model on and off the court for her teammates and students at Regis. She was selected captain her senior year (94-95) and continued this leadership on the court as she was named Commonwealth Coast Conference Player of the Year in the 1994-1995 season. She was selected as a NCAA All-American and was awarded team MVP for the 94-95 season.

Erickson helped set a benchmark for current Pride athletes. She tallied 1108 points over her three and a half seasons at Regis to be only the second player inducted into the 1000 point club. She was one of the most productive basketball athletes to date setting a plethora of records. Erickson had season highs in assists with (124), steals in a game (13), and points in a season (467). Jenn ended her career with a total of 335 assists and 332 steals. Erickson's number 21 was retired in 1996.

The Regis College 1995-96 softball team compiled the best single season record in Regis College history going 20-6, capturing the Commonwealth Coast Conference regular season title as well as the MAIAW championship and reached the finals of the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament.

The Pride's offense was led by the trio of Samantha Dutily, Jill Fiore, and Renee Lehman. Dutily was an offensive juggernaut during the 95-96 season, notching a team-high in runs batted in with 17 and tallied a slugging percentage of .741. Dutily swiped 27 stolen bases to lead the team and the Commonwealth Coast Conference while Fiore recorded a team high batting average of .444 and finished second on the team in slugging with an average of .653. Lehman was the Pride's main long ball threat leading the team in home runs with five and posted a batting average of .328.

The Pride's pitching staff was led by pitcher Cristen Coleman. Coleman started in 13 games for the Pride going 10-3 in 85 innings pitched. Coleman posted 40 strikeouts to go along with an ERA of 1.40 on the season.

Regis finished the season with a team batting average of .319, compared to its opponent's average of .185. The Pride pitching staff also compiled a 2.49 ERA compared to their opponent's 6.49 average.
