16 STUDENT-ATHLETES NAMED TO TCCC ACADEMIC ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM
Weston, Mass.The Commonwealth Coast Conference officially released the names of its TCCC Academic All-Conference team Friday morning. Regis College had 16 student-athletes named to the team representing six different sports. The TCCC recognizes student-athletes that are at least a sophomore, and maintain a minimum of a 3.5 grade point average on a 4.0 GPA scale.

Regis College had 16 student-athletes named to the team representing six different sports. The TCCC recognizes student-athletes that are at least a sophomore, and maintain a minimum of a 3.5 grade point average on a 4.0 GPA scale.
Seven student-athletes represent three fall sports. Maria Pino (Revere, Mass.) and Maria Mendes (Brockton, Mass.) represent field hockey; Ana Calderon (Phoenix, Ariz.), Kelly Cadigan (Ware, Mass.), Megan Roan (Whitman, Mass.), and Shannon Tonelli (Easthampton, Mass.) were members of the women’s soccer team. Amanda Hoyt (Madison, NH) represents women’s volleyball.
Benjamin Perry (Chicopee, Mass.) earned a spot on the team as the only male from a winter sport to receive academic all-conference. Three women’s basketball players made the list, Stephanie Crawford (Rockland, Mass.), Stefanie Wozmak (Auburn, NH), and Meagan Tobin (Quincy, Mass.). Jessica Gallo (Tamworth, NH) and Melissa Moore (Dedham, Mass.) join Perry as representatives for the swimming and diving team.
Hope Benjamin (Rochester, Mass.) and Molly Teixeira (Rindge, NH) represent softball, while Alycia Murray (Danvers, Mass.) represents the women’s lacrosse program.
Mendes also earned the athletic departments Mother Regis Award, which is the departments highest honor bestowed upon a female student-athlete. The award is given to a student-athlete that displays academic excellence, outstanding contribution to the team, and involved in service within and outside of the Regis community.
Tonelli is a recipient of the 2010 Fullbright Scholarship. She will continue her passion for education while studying in Peru in the spring.
