Bio

John Barry began his tenure as the Regis sports information director in 2016. Barry brings a wealth of experience to the position having spent the previous five seasons as the assistant media relations director at the University of Hawai'i and five seasons before that at Division II Hawai'i Pacific University.

While at UH, Barry was the primary media contact and game operations manager for the nationally recognized women's volleyball team as well as the men's basketball, baseball, women's soccer, swimming and diving, sailing and beach volleyball programs. During his time there, he also twiced served as the media director for the NCAA Division I women's volleyball west regional, the Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic (men's basketball) and was the Hawai'i media liaison for the 2015 Los Angeles Lakers preseason training camp.

Prior to UH, Barry was the Sports Information/Marketing Director at Hawai'i Pacific University where he oversaw the department's 13 sports including the 2010 national champion softball team. Barry was also named the PacWest Conference's Sports Information Director of the Year in 2009.

Barry also brings coaching experience to the position. From 2002-04, he was the assistant men's soccer coach at the University of Richmond where the Spiders qualified for the NCAA Tournament in 2002. He also coached at HPU while serving as the school's SID and Chaminade University in Hawai'i prior to that. He holds an NSCAA Advanced National Diploma and a Goalkeeper II Coaching Certificate.

Originally from Honolulu, Barry lettered four years in soccer at Lafayette College before receiving his master's degree in sport management from East Stroudsburg University.
