Sam Salamone (Milford, Mass.) has been named the Regis College Student-Athlete of the Week after being named the NECC Rookie of the Year and helping lead the Pride to its first NECC Championship in women's lacrosse. She was also named to the All-NECC First Team and was honored as the NECC Rookie of the Week for the ninth time this year.
Salamone tallied twelve goals and two assists in the NECC playoffs. She registered seven goals, two assists, three groundballs, and six draw controls in the Pride's NECC Semifinals win over Elms on Wednesday. The freshman midfielder saved her best performance for last, scoring the game-winner and four other goals in Saturday's NECC Championship. Salamone was honored as Tournament MVP and named to the All-Tournament Team for her efforts.
This season, Salamone led the Pride in goals (92), assists (24), points (116), groundballs (99), and draw controls (124). Salamone led the NECC in all five categories as well and ranked in the top 15 in the NCAA in points (12th), goals (6th), groundballs (8th), and draw controls (15th). Salamone already ranks second in career points at Regis and shattered the single season marks in points, goals, and groundballs.
